Removing the Wheels

Where a customers car is being held on site it will be parked within our secure premises and located on a modern 3 tonne, 2 post lift to allow removal of the wheels.

Removing the Tyres

Where wheels are delivered with tyres, the tyres will be stripped from the wheel and marked with the customers order number. The wheels will also have the inside edge marked so that they are refitted in the same way that they came off the wheel. Where tyres are no longer fit for road use they will be disposed of with the knowledge of the customer at a charge.

Stripping the Wheel

All of the wheels delivered to BJV Engineering are chemically stripped to remove the existing finish. The chemical we use has been designed specifically for use on alloy wheels and provides the most effective means of paint stripping without damage to the wheel.

Blasting the Wheel

After stripping, all of the wheels are then media blasted to remove any remaining debris or corrosion within the wheel and to provide a good key for the new finish.

Preparing for Paint

Wheels are then checked for damage, straightened and welded where required before being prepared for painting. Whilst we endevour to remove all damage it may not be possible / cost effective to remove all heavy corrosion, especially in detail areas such as between the spokes. Please also note that we do not, unless absolutely necessary, use any fillers other than alloy welding.

Painting

95% of all wheels finsihed by BJV Engineering will be done so using Powder Coat. This is the strongest most cost effective finish that can be applied to your wheels. A small number of wheels will be finished with either a combination of solvent and powder paint or automtive car paints in order to achieve the required finish.

Machining

BJV Engineering diamond cuts customers wheels on a copy lathe using processes and techniques that have been developed over the past 20 years. We have over 600 wheel profiles on the shelf.

Tyre Fitting & Balancing

Once wheels are completed tyres will be refitted, this can include new tyres where supplied by the customer. Wheels are then balanced using adhesive weights on the inside of the wheel rim. The advantage of using BJV Engineering to fit your tyres is that if during this process the wheel is accidentally damaged we will automatically refinish the wheel without question. If your locally appointed fitter damages the wheel BJV Engineering will charge the full ammount for refinishing the wheel. As standard we fit rubber valves, but at an additional charge chrome sleeved rubber valves or metal valves are also available.

Fitting to the Car

Wheels will be refitted to the car and torqued using professional Snap-On tools, customers should however check the tightness of their wheels after an inital bedding in period of 50 miles.
